What is a Random Variable? The real number assigned to each outcome of space is known as Random Variable.
In other words, it is a function that associates a real number with each element of the sample space.
Two coins are tossed, Let ‘X‘ be the random variable representing the number of heads, What is the value random variable X.
X is the random variable representing the number of heads
S = {hh,tt,th,ht}
Types
Random varibale are of two types
Discreate Random Variables:
A random variable x is said to be discreate random variable if its set of possible outcomes are countable i.e. having a specific value.
=>p(x=a) (probability of x at a)
Continuous Random Variable
A random variable x is said to be Continuous random variable if its set of possible outcomes is lies in between a specific range.
=> F(x) p(a<=x<=b)
